Bookkeeping in ChatGPT
Add Bookkeeping as a custom MCP plugin and work with your books directly in a ChatGPT conversation.
MCP server URL
https://www.bookkeepingcli.com/api/mcp/cli- Connect your accounting under Connections.
- In ChatGPT Plugins, choose + → Add custom MCP server. Name it Bookkeeping CLI and paste the server URL above. Choose OAuth and automatic registration (DCR) when offered.
- Choose OAuth, sign in to Bookkeeping and select the company and permissions. Start with read access; allow writes only when you need to prepare changes.
- Create and install the plugin. In a new conversation, type @ and select Bookkeeping CLI, then ask it to show your connected companies.
Custom plugins must be enabled for your account or workspace. Some interfaces call them Apps or Connectors and may require Developer mode or administrator approval.
ChatGPT web uses the URL above. The optional ZIP is a local marketplace package for ChatGPT desktop and Codex: extract it and follow the included README. Do not upload it as a chat attachment.
Asked for a Client ID and Client Secret?
If automatic registration is unavailable, copy the callback URL shown by your assistant. Under API Keys → OAuth connectors, create a client using that exact callback URL. Enter its Client ID and Client Secret in your assistant’s OAuth settings. Keep the MCP server URL above unchanged.
